Dun & Bradstreet Credit Reporting also notes a Sutherland/Miller-Gallman affiliation

Last Monday, the Blog posted a copy of the Hoover's Business Report that noted the alleged affiliation between Kit Sutherland and Miller-Gallman Developers.  We have since been able to obtain a copy of the Dun & Bradstreet Comprehensive Credit Report for "Miller Gallman Developers", that, like the Hoover's report, supports an apparent affiliation between Kit and Miller-Gallman Developers.  Note: The Dun & Bradstreet report is included at the end of this post.

As with the Hoover's report, we wondered why no other executives (namely Jerrold Miller) were listed as having an affiliation with the company.  Upon further investigation, (Continued...)
the Blog likewise found that information is contained in the credit report for "Miller-Gallman Developers" (with a "-" in between the words "Miller" and "Gallman"), whereas the credit report that mentions Kit was filed with the company "Miller Gallman Developers" (note the absence of the "-" between "Miller" and "Gallman").  If you combine the two reports, you would, indeed, have the complete company profile.

The Blog would like to highlight the following:
1. Kit Sutherland has never denied the allegations that she has financial ties to Miller-Gallman Developers and she has had plenty of opportunities to do so - namely at the Annual Meeting in December.  Recall that she arrived nearly an hour late, and has been there only a short while before a homeowner announced that he intended to ask Kit directly about the allegations when he was given the floor to speak, at which point, she quickly grabbed her laptop and left the room, never to return.
I don't know about you, but if someone were accusing me of something that wasn't true, I'd jump at any opportunity I could to proclaim my innocence - especially at a forum at which nearly every actively involved homeowner is present.  In lieu of simply saying 'hey, it must be some mix up, because I don't have - nor have I had - financial ties of any kind with Miller-Gallman", what does she do? Has Stuart deny them (which, of course, is silly since the allegations aren't about him) and hires an high-profile attorney to deny them for her.  Huh? Why all the commotion and expense when all one has to do is make a simple statement saying it isn't true to your fellow homeowners to put the matter to rest?  In my opinion, something is definitely out of alignment there.
2. Kit Sutherland is currently an officer of the Glen Iris Condominium Association and, as such, her actions continue to be covered by the E&O insurance policy that we pay handsomely to maintain.  If it turns out that there is something to these allegations, we are potentially broadening our financial exposure the longer she continues to serve as a 'Community Officer'.  It is common for people in all walks of business to sign a Disclosure of Actual or Potential Conflict of Interest Statement before they assume positions such as those she has had and the one she presently has.  And her refusal to even deny what not only has been alleged, but clearly seems to be supported by two respected business reporting authorities, is tantamount to a refusal to attest that she, indeed, has no financial ties with the developer.  That's a serious 'red flag'.
The potential harm that could come to our Association if there if there is any truth to what both Hoover's and Dun & Bradstreet are saying, is serious and it is real.  And if Kit Sutherland genuinely cared for the well-being of our community, she would demonstrate as much by either simply denying the allegations herself or resigning her position as 'Community Officer'.  If she would rather resign than address the issue herself, at least the downside risk to our Association would not grow any deeper.

But, it seems doubtful she's much burdened by the prospect that we may be the ones who ultimately end up footing the bill for her diamond-studded indulgence of silence.  What clearly matters most to Kit, is what Kit wants.  Which, of course only serves to underscore the need for change in the governance of our Association - lest it remain firmly in the hands of someone who hasn't been elected to serve in that capacity for more than three years.  It's difficult to imagine being able to conjure up an act of any greater disrespect and contempt for your fellow homeowners than that.

Note:  The Blog will have an important follow-up post on this topic mid-week that should shed some light on the more immediate costs that may be headed our way as a result of Kit's inaction.  Stay tuned.

  1. Dear Blogger,

I agree with you. Why is there no response from Kit Sutherland herself? I think any decent person who was innocent would not allow themselves to be wrongfully accused. Kit Sutherland, You need to stand up and speak on this matter or it is clear you are a guilty pig.

  2. One possible explanation for her silence that I don't think I have heard anyone put out there yet, may be that she doesn't, in fact, have any ownership interest in Miller Gallman, but perhaps she has some other financial involvement - maybe as an investor, a land-use/historic preservationist consultant, etc. and she can't really deny the existence of a corporate ownership interest without winding up having denied any involvement of any kind, which may be an untruth on her part. Her silence is weird, though. She definitely didn't hire a PR consultant, because it makes her look guilty as hell.
